August 1 room available in adorable Astoria apt!
Hi!! I painted the room just a week ago so you'll see the old pictures of the green walls and the new ones with the grey walls.
I'm looking for a new like-minded (female) roommate! It is one bedroom available in a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment on 34th Street (between Broadway and 31st Ave) in Astoria. The best parts about this apartment (in my opinion) are the layout and location!
The rent is $1,200 plus utilities (they run roughly $50-100 each depending on the season). The room is available August 1st (potentially earlier). In terms of the lease--it would basically be month-to-month, but with the intention of a long-term time frame. To move in you will need first month's rent and security deposit ($2,400 total).
About the apartment --
This is by far the best apartment I've lived in for roommates: the bedrooms are on opposite ends of the apartment, separated by the bathroom, kitchen and living room (with a hallway to boot AND it's a pre-war building with concrete in between the plaster wall, which = great sound-proofing). I keep the common areas clean, but I'm not crazy about it. We just have internet (sorry, no cable!). The kitchen and living room are both completely stocked/furnished, so I'm sorry there wouldn't be much room for anything else. Perfect for someone who just has bedroom furniture! The super lives below us and is very responsive. Please note: no pets allowed :( (Believe me, I'd love a dog!) I've lived here almost two years now and love it! I painted the entire apartment less than 1 year ago.
The room open is the larger of the two rooms (measures about 11'x13'), has two windows, a decent closet and is facing the street (a quiet Astoria side street). The room is UNFURNISHED.
About the neighborhood --
Located just 3 blocks/5 mins from the Broadway N/W stop in Astoria, about an 8 minute walk from the R/M Steinway stop and 5 minutes from 30th ave, the location can't be beat! There are tons of restaurants in the area, laundromats on every corner, the best organic grocery store in Astoria and the best gym in Astoria (Club Fitness Astoria). With all of the nonsense going on with the MTA as of late it's all the more valuable to be located in the "Golden Triangle" (aka in between the N/W Broadway stop and the R/M Steinway stop). We're also a 10ish minute walk from the only movie theater in Astoria.
About me --
I'm a 28-year-old super proud born and raised Vermonter living it up in the best city on the east coast. I work for a non-profit performing arts organization and have pretty solid 9-5 working hours (I tend toward the early to bed, early to rise). Outside of work I like to spin, do yoga, run and volunteer; I love baking and try to cook most of my food (mostly a Sunday afternoon batch cooker); I see as many Broadway shows as my budget allows; I play in a community orchestra; and like most millennials I have a borderline unhealthy relationship with Netflix/Hulu. I am an introvert, so I am really quiet at home and treat my living space as more of a sanctuary than anything. I don't tend to have people over during the week, but from time to time my sister or mom will stay over for a night or two. I am respectful, drama free, and do not smoke, drink or do drugs (I'm not a nun, just not interested--no drugs or smoking in the apartment though).
If this sounds like a good fit, please respond with a bit about yourself. If you're looking for some inspiration feel free to answer the questions below :) Look forward to hearing from you!!
1. How do you spend your days? Job/school? Hobbies? What is your usual schedule?
2. Would you describe yourself as an introvert or extrovert?
3. At the end of a very long week, what is the first thing that you want to do?
4. Do you cook? If so what are your usual cooking habits?
